On the second day of our Ilocos trip, we tried to see as much of Ilocos Norte as possible. Here are some photos of the rest of Ilocos Norte :)

Bangui WIndmills

The windmills are considered as Southeast Asia’s biggest wind turbines. They are located in Ilocos Norte are 20 beautiful windmills or wind turbines which resemble giant electric fans. Each wind turbine has the capacity to generate electricity up to a maximum of 1.65 Megawatts for a total of 24.75 Megawatts. The 20 turbines are lined up along an arc manner following the shoreline of Bangui Bay facing the West Philippine Sea at the northwest tip of Luzon island.
The fascinating windmills are considered the biggest wind turbines in Southeast Asia. We, Filipinos are proud for having a fascinating site while utilizing renewable energy resources to reduce greenhouse effect that causes global warming. 40% of the generated electricity is sold and used by the residents in the area.

Kapurpurawan Rock Formation

The Kapurpurawan rock formation is located on the rocky coast of Burgos, Ilocos Norte. It is known for its creamy white and streamlined limestone formations, which have been sculpted by different oceanic and weather forces. The term "Kapurpurawan" is from Ilocano word "puraw", which means white, obviously because of its color specially on broad daylight when the sun touches the natural sculpture. It is an icon of Ilocos Norte, a source of pride, one of the most-visited sites of the province.

Cape Bojeador Lighthouse

Also located in the town of Burgos is the Cape Bojeador Lighthouse or Burgos Lighthouse. It set majestically on a hill overlooking the South China Sea. It was built in 1892 and is still functioning to date. This is one of the famous historical landmarks in the province of Ilocos Norte. It is the highest lighthouse in the Philippines above the sea level on top of a hill named Vigia de Nagparitan.

Fort Ilocandia

Fort Ilocandia is the only 5-star deluxe resort hotel in northern Philippines sprawling over 77 hectares of land amidst gentle sand dunes and pine forests with a 2 kilometer sandy beach facing the South China Sea. It is located in the heart of the city of Laoag and the province of Ilocos Norte. The resort is a complete service complex resort hotel.
We stopped by Fort Ilocandia for a while just to look around and take some photos.

Paoay Church

The Saint Augustine Church (Spanish: Iglesia de San Agustín de Paoay), commonly known as the Paoay Church, is the Roman Catholic church of the municipality of Paoay, Ilocos Norte in the Philippines. Completed in 1710, the church is famous for its distinct architecture highlighted by the enormous buttresses on the sides and back of the building. It is declared as a National Cultural Treasure by the Philippine government in 1973 and a UNESCO World Heritage Site under the collective group of Baroque Churches of the Philippines in 1993.

Paoay Church may look old, but it's amazing how time could make something look even more beautiful. I took this opportunity to thank God for all the blessings. Visiting this church is a great way to end the second day of our Ilocos trip.
Next stop : Vigan, Ilocos Sur.
